12 Dec Speyside Whisky Festival 2015
Catering for the ‘Touch of Tartan’ opening dinner of the Speyside Whisky Festival 2015 was a great success for Good Highland Food. This year’s event was held at the brilliant Glen Moray Distillery in Elgin and we were honoured to once more be given the opportunity to serve our food at such a prestigious event for the Highlands.
We stuck to what we do best and served the very finest local ingredients from suppliers across the Highlands, with a focus on the Speyside region to demonstrate what an abundance of great produce there is on offer.
Our menu was made up of Sweet & Smoked Pepper Crusted Hot Smoked Salmon with a Chive Glaze, Microherb Salad and a Beetroot & Mango Salsa followed by Fillet of Speyside Beef with Rich Red Wine & Redcurrant Jus and finished with a Wester Hardmuir Strawberry Posset which we accompanied with a delicious vanilla truffle from the Highland Chocolatier. Each course was partnered with a Glen Moray Malt suited to the flavours of the dish.
The dinner brought together whisky experts, writers and industry professionals and was hailed an excellent night all round. Our supplier of the delicious Hot Smoked Salmon, Associated Seafoods from Buckie, had some wonderful feedback for us too;
“Well done on last night I thought it was an excellent evening and everyone I met was complimentary about the food and particularly the service, I thought your staff did a fantastic job.”
The opening celebrations continued the following night with a Ceilidh featuring The Dandy Ceilidh Band. We served a classic Scottish dish of Highland Lamb and Beef Stovies followed by a Strawberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake. The perfect meal for a night of Highland dancing and drams!
